WESTON HOSPICE GARDEN, WESTON SUPER MARE

A publicly funded project where our mission was to breathe life back into a lacklustre landscape. Our garden design gives journey, rest, privacy. And a sensory plant display which ranges from lushly exotic to the shimmering fragility of prairie plants.

PUBLIC SPACES

We were delighted to be asked to design the main garden and inner courtyard areas for Weston Hospicecare as part of their application for government funding from the Department of Health.

The key elements of our design provide wide, sinuous paths which lead you around a raised area of lush, scented planting containing several seating niches to provide seclusion and privacy as well as viewing points for the prospect of Uphill Church.

The somewhat neglected inner courtyard was viewed from several locations within the building. As well as providing an attractive outside space for both residents and staff our brief was to maintain the courtyard’s very important function as a haven for visiting ducks!

We have created a simple design with strong flowing lines softened by lush Mediterranean style planting. A path of limestone setts leads around a reflecting pond to a bespoke wooden bench, and fragrant climbers and eye-catching architectural palms add a touch of the exotic to this area.

WHAT THE CLIENT SAID
Diana, Head of Income Generation

Robert & Lesley are truly inspirational to work with.  The time they took and the effort they made to understand the needs of Weston Hospicecare’s patients, visitors and staff has resulted in a truly inspirational garden design which has transformed the experiences of everyone who uses the Hospice.
