This recently extended 18th century cottage on a busy main road has been converted into 2 sizeable residences. Its proximity to the sea has influenced the clients’ desire for a coastal theme to the garden.
Creating a paved dining area outside the kitchen, secluded drinks terraces to take advantage of the attractive views to the West, a small water feature and a sizeable football ‘pitch’ for the children were all included in the wish list.
A pergola bedecked with fragrant climbers gives the central focus to the garden. Further vertical interest and structure is provided by the planting of 3 additional Cordylines. A mixture of herbaceous perennials suited to the coastal environment and ornamental grasses are planted directly into gravel laid over mulch mat to enhance the natural feel of this low maintenance garden.
