This L shaped back garden overlooks a water meadow grazed by cows but was also dominated by two sheds, tall Leyland hedges and a Maple. The clients want a low maintenance approach, non-slip composite decking, extensive entertaining spaces on one level and cow proof plants on the boundary fence! They like curves and the colour purple.
Our design provides a dramatic and practical ground plan which distracts from the garden’s strong verticals. Curvaceous walkways link rounded zones for socializing and unite the two arms of the garden. Two tones of decking add interest and definition.
Removal of the Maple already makes the garden seem more spacious. We have specified smaller specimen trees and easy care shrubs, allowing room for seasonal plantings.
