Modern Formality

The clients, young professionals living on the fringes of Bristol, sought an entrance garden ‘with a difference’ which they could implement themselves.

Our design responds to the traditional frontage of the house, but is a modern take on formality and also takes account of the asymmetry of the site. Crisp topiary gives year round structure and is the perfect foil for relaxed and quirky planting in tones of mauve and apricot.

Minimal planting at the front and the gravel substrate help allow for the lack of pavement. The clients were eager to soften the façade of the house and our plan specifies climbers and supports to achieve this.
